Values and Vision

Stoke Prior Primary School is a friendly, small village school just outside the village of Stoke Prior, near Leominster. Our school is more than just a place of learning—it’s a cornerstone of the community.

At Stoke Prior Primary School, we believe that every child is unique and all children can be successful by achieving their best. To do this we expect children to be self-disciplined, caring, curious and enthusiastic. Through achieving success in all that they do, we hope children will become self-confident.

Children, staff, parents and the community are proud of Stoke Prior School, respecting each other and the school, feeling ownership and working together, and being dedicated and committed to this vision.

Why Families Choose Stoke Prior

About Stoke Prior

Children at Stoke Prior can begin their journey at our fabulous playgroup, Little Owls, where Friday mornings are an exciting mix of indoor and outdoor exploration and fun with parents. School starts in Monkey Puzzle class, where children will follow an exciting play-based curriculum, guided by highly experienced and caring staff. As children progress through the school, they benefit from our smaller class sizes, ensuring that every child is well known, valued, and supported by all members of staff.

Our pupils have many opportunities to take part in a variety of wonderful experiences. We love our visits to Stoke Prior church, the Leominster Festival, local carol services, Hay on Wye literature festival, a residential to Condover Hall and attending many sporting events with other schools.

We have an amazing PTFA who put on fun events throughout the year and provide the school with funds for things such as new books, musical instruments or a visit to the pantomime.

We are incredibly proud of the progress in learning made by our fabulous pupils. Last year, our KS2 SATs results were 18% higher than the national average which put us in the top 10% of schools in the UK.

Take a look at our Facebook page to see some of the exciting activities, events, and learning experiences our children have enjoyed recently.

Facilities

The school has four classrooms, a hall for sports, assemblies and larger group activities. We have a design & technology room, a medical room and a library. To help families and working parents, we offer daily wraparound care which includes a breakfast club from 8 am and an after–school club which runs until 4.30 pm.

The school is situated in open countryside just outside the village and is set in its own spacious grounds. These consist of a wildlife conservation area, school garden, playing field, two hard surface play areas and an adventure play area with safety surface. The school has access to its own forest school site in local woodland, which provides outdoor learning opportunities for all our pupils.

As well as their indoor classroom, Monkey Puzzle Class (our youngest learners) have their own spacious and secure outdoor learning area too and can use the rest of the school grounds.

We are proud to be part of the Three Counties Academy Trust and benefit from working closely with the other primary schools in the trust.

We are very proud of our fabulous reception class and the EYFS team. We hold open days for prospective families to visit Stoke Prior and we love to see new families at these events. If you cannot make the open day, please email us or call us on 01598 760207 and we would be more than happy to arrange a visit.

Herefordshire Council Admission Arrangements 2025/2026

The admissions process opens in September of the year before your child is due to start school and closes in January. Children in England are entitled to start school in the September following their 4th birthday and must start their education by the beginning of the term after their 5th birthday. Further information on how to apply can be found in our admissions policy, under the documents tab. The policy underwent consultation in Spring 2026 and is next due for consultation in 2032.

An 'In Year Transfer' application is the process which a parent or legal guardian must complete to secure a school place other than at the normal point of admission into reception. In-year transfers are most common for families who move house to a new area or can no longer easily access their current school.

If you are interested in moving your child to Stoke Prior, you will need to inform your current school and complete an In-Year Transfer form.  This has to be signed by both parties and handed in to your chosen school.

Contact the school for in-year transfer requests.
