Welcome to Early Years at Stoke Prior Primary School
Our Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) is a warm, nurturing, and inspiring place to be, where children begin their learning journey, at the age of 3, with curiosity, confidence, and joy. We believe that every child is unique, capable, and full of potential, and our provision is designed to help them thrive socially, emotionally, and academically.
Our Vision
We aim to create a safe, stimulating, and inclusive environment where children develop a love of learning through play, exploration, and high-quality interactions. Our curriculum is carefully built around clear key skills and knowledge progression, ensuring every child develops strong foundational skills that prepare them for future learning.
What We Offer
- A combined Pre-school/ Reception classroom and outdoor area (Monkey Puzzle Class).
- A caring, experienced team who know each child as an individual.
- A rich, play-based curriculum that follows children's interests while ensuring progression.
- A carefully balanced mix of child led and adult directed activities, supported by high quality provision and enhancements that reflect the context of our children and their interests.
- Indoor and outdoor learning that encourages independence, creativity, and problem-solving.
- Strong partnerships with families, recognising that parents and carers are children's first educators.
- A focus on wellbeing, helping children feel secure, confident, and ready to learn.
Introducing our EYFS Team
In our Pre-school/Reception classroom we have;
Mrs Holder who is the class teacher. She has been part of our school community for many years and is an experienced teacher with over 20 years’ experience in EYFS. She is also the Deputy Head, SENCo and Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead.
We also have Mrs Lane, our wonderful Teaching Assistant, who again is very experienced in EYFS and has been part of Monkey Puzzle Class for 11 years.
Mrs Ralph has recently joined us as an EYFS Apprentice and completes our dedicated, warm and friendly EYFS staff.
Our Learning Environment
Our EYFS classroom and outdoor area is thoughtfully designed to promote exploration and discovery. Children have access to role play and small-world areas, creative and construction zones, reading corners and early writing spaces, maths and investigation stations, sensory and quiet areas, and a well-equipped outdoor learning environment. Reception visit our on & off-site Forest school area and Pre-school visit our on-site Forest School area every week. They also use our main playground and field, that has a wonderful willow structure and fun play area.
Working With Families
We value open communication and work closely with families to support each child's development and create a community built on trust and respect. We regularly update parents on learning and progress, they have opportunities to join in with events and workshops, and we give clear guidance on how to support learning at home. We use ‘Tapestry’ as a means of communication between home and school. We regularly add photos and comments about what the children are learning in school and we welcome photos and comments from home, so we can share in the celebration of your children learning, progressing and developing.
